Official video by Rockstar Games, 1 minute 31 seconds.Watch on YouTube
GTA 6 Trailer 1 was released on December 4, 2023, a day ahead of schedule after it leaked. The 91-second reveal confirmed the return to Vice City, introduced Lucia, and came with a 2025 release window that has since moved to November 19, 2026.
What it revealed
- The series returns to Vice City, in the fictional state of Leonida, the series’ take on Florida.
- It opens on Lucia in prison. She is the series’ first female protagonist since the original 1997 Grand Theft Auto, which let you pick from a handful of characters.
- Lucia and a male partner, later named as Jason Duval, carry out robberies together.
- Set to Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road”.
- It was scheduled for December 5, 2023 at 9 a.m. ET. Rockstar posted it the evening before, after a copy leaked online.
Our take
Trailer 1 established everything later videos built on: Vice City in the present day, a wider state around it, and a pair of leads rather than a lone protagonist. It opens on Lucia in prison, and the couple’s relationship drives the rest of the trailer.
Much of the trailer is Leonida itself: beaches, swamps, nightclubs and short phone-video clips of the state’s more chaotic residents.
