According to the store listings, yes: every PlayStation Store and Xbox Store region we checked releases it at 12:00am local time on November 19. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed this, and large countries use one store time, so the US West Coast and Perth both get it at 9pm on November 18.

Not according to the store listings. They roll it out over about 19 hours, starting in New Zealand at 11:00 UTC on November 18 and ending in Mexico and Central America at 06:00 UTC on November 19, though Rockstar could still set one global time, as it did for the 2021 GTA Trilogy.

New Zealand, going by the store listings: its release time is midnight NZDT, or 11:00 UTC on November 18, about 18 hours before the US East Coast. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed the times.

In the store data, yes: all 40 Xbox markets we checked have the same release time as that country’s PlayStation Store. Neither Microsoft nor Sony has confirmed these as unlock times.

From Thursday, November 12, 2026, if you pre-ordered a digital copy; Rockstar, Take-Two and the Rockstar Store all give that date. Boxed copies hold a download code and are out from November 12, so they can be pre-loaded too.

No time has been announced, only the date, November 12. IBTimes UK says local midnight, but Rockstar’s own post gives no time; for the 2021 GTA Trilogy, Rockstar did start PlayStation Store pre-loads at 12 a.m. local time, so midnight is plausible but not confirmed.

That isn’t confirmed. Notebookcheck, GamingBolt and Dexerto suggest it might work, most simply on Xbox by changing the console’s region, but Rockstar, Sony and Microsoft haven’t said so. On PS5, GamingBolt says you would need a New Zealand account and a gift card, and Rockstar’s store says its boxed PlayStation codes only work on accounts from the matching region.

Rockstar hasn’t said it does. The box contains a download code rather than a disc, so you still download and play through PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store.

According to Rockstar, GTA V’s 2013 launch had midnight events at retailers in North America, the UK, Canada and Europe, and for Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018 it described a “midnight launch” that began in Australia and New Zealand. The 2021 GTA Trilogy remaster went the other way, unlocking everywhere at 10 a.m. ET, so none of these is a promise of how GTA 6 will work.

It could: Rockstar hasn’t announced any time yet, and for the 2021 GTA Trilogy it set one worldwide time, 10 a.m. ET, announced six days before launch. Until Rockstar says otherwise, the store listings point to midnight local time.

Not on PC: Rockstar has announced only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox’s Matthew Ball said the game will not stream to PC. Only The Verge reports that Xbox Cloud Gaming will stream it to Xbox consoles at launch, and no unlock time for cloud play has been given.
